Contemplative Groups
Groups are opportunities to experience contemplative practices in community.
Every Tuesday morning, we come together for a time of guided contemplative prayer,
opening our hearts to God, through a variety of contemplative practices.
We meet at 7:30 a.m., via Zoom, for 20 minutes of contemplative prayer. We conclude by 8:00 a.m.
If you would like to join us, please email me for the Zoom link.
Centering Prayer
On Tuesdays, at 12:15 p.m., we meet for Centering Prayer. Twenty minutes of Centering Prayer practice begins at 12:25, followed each week by group contemplative reflection on a spiritual reading.
This group is facilitated by Father Vinny McKiernan, of the Newman Center.
If you would like to join us, please email me for the Zoom link.
Past Events
Please join us on Wednesdays, from 11:30 to 12:30, for a weekly hour of retreat, with the practice of contemplative prayer and reflection on the readings from The Greatest Gift, by Ann Voskamp.
We will meet December 4, 11, and 18, in the Chapelside Parlor, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Boulevard.
Contemplative prayer has been described as “a long, loving look at God.” We will begin each week with stillness and quiet, perhaps guided meditation.
We will share our reflections on the daily readings from The Greatest Gift. These readings begin December 1. You may want to order your book online at Amazon or your preferred bookseller.
Please let us know if you will be able to join us by sending an email to Bonnie@BonnieWeaver-Miller.com.

The greatest gifts of the Christmas season await you.
Urban Sabbath.
Begin the Christmas season with an evening retreat, a time of rest and rejuvenation in the midst of your frantic schedule and in the middle of your everyday world.
Begin the Christmas season with a Sabbath,
Urban Sabbath.
Thursday, December 5, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., will be the second of four Urban Sabbath offerings this year. Gather at the Short North Church at 6:45 a.m. for a series of contemplative prayer practices.
We begin with a guided meditation, to immerse ourselves in God’s presence, shining like a Light in the darkness.
We continue with an indoor walking meditation, to immerse ourselves in God’s presence as a Light in the darkness of the world around us.
We continue with a time of sacred writing, to honor the Light within each of us.
We conclude with gentle, slow flow yoga, to connect with the sacred Light within each of us: heart, body, and mind.
Register by emailing: amy@shortnorthchurch.org.

“We need to look at Jesus until we can look out at the world with his kind of eyes. The world no longer trusts Christians who ‘love Jesus’ but do not seem to love anything else.
In Jesus Christ, God’s own broad, deep, and all-inclusive world-view is made available to us.”
Richard Rohr, The Universal Christ (p. 32).
